Craigslist Dating? 5 Alternatives

We were all heartbroken when Craigslist pumped the brakes on sex personals. We may not have been committed to long-term love, but we sure were committed to finding saucy craigslist hookups. Although it may feel like online dating will never be the same, there are still options for you out there. Here are five of my favorite alternatives to Craigslist personals.

Badoo

This international app and website has numbers on its side. With well over a decade of experience under their belt and the title of most-downloaded dating app of 2016 in twenty-one different countries, Badoo knows what it’s doing. As a “dating-focused social network,” they’re here for you to make connections that turn into lovers. Best of all, real users who use Badoo report a lot of great success getting action.

So what’s the catch?

It seems like those numbers and accolades only touch some parts of the world. When it comes to the states, it’s all one straight guy sausage fest, and every other nook and cranny is left a little blank. If you’re a straight woman, you’ll have a field day. For everyone else? You may come up empty.

Feeld

Have you ever thought about exploring your sexuality a little? Looking to learn the ropes or try a threesome, but not sure where to start? Feeld has your back. This app is open to every gender, age, kink, sexuality, and fantasy. With a crisp layout and a simple profile, they want you to get laid soon. Speaking from experience, Feeld delivers time and again. If you’re looking for a good time this weekend, Feeld won’t let you down.

So what’s the catch?

Well, they won’t let you down unless you live in a smaller town. While Feeld is great for major metro areas like Denver, D.C., and L.A., good luck in Marfa, Texas. And for all this app’s sexy possibilities, it sure likes to glitch out – just breathe deep and keep swiping, because Feeld’s worth it.

Hud

Short for “hook up dating,” Hud’s not here for you to find your dream partner; it’s here for you to find your fantasy. This app prides itself in being gender inclusive and diverse, meaning everyone’s invited to this steamy party.

They cut right to the chase with a special spot on your profile for you to share your thoughts on kinks like feet, choking, butt stuff, wax, and blindfolding. When you’re up front from the get-go, you won’t be wasting your time with someone who’s weirded out by your deepest fantasies.

My favorite thing about Hud? Their SAFE Badge, which helps users see who’s recently been testing. With this feature, Hud connects you to low-cost STD testing and encourages you to have the conversation that everyone should have before hopping in the sack.

So what’s the catch?

While Hud does a lot of things right, there’s one frustrating part: you can only choose one gender to be attracted to at a time. While switching is just the click of a button, horny folks who don’t discriminate between the sheets have a little extra legwork ahead of them if they want to make the most of this app.

KinkD

With a 4.0 rating in the Apple store, KinkD isn’t your typical app. Instead of hooking you up with the vanilla stuff, KinkD wants you to get wild. If you’re more into missionary than mistresses, this may not be your bag, but even if you’re just curious, KinkD is here for you.

Their gender and sexuality options are wide; at KinkD, they’re more concerned with the roles you identify with in the bedroom. You can choose as many as you’d like from twenty-nine choices including bottom, masochist, ageplayer, hedonist, cuckold, bull, and submissive. With so many options, you’re bound to find your fit.

In addition to searching, you can chat, find people who share your hobbies, and enter a monthly selfie contest.

So what’s the catch?

While nobody has reported getting catfished on KinkD, apparently some people have felt scammed by KinkD’s complicated system for cancelling your upgraded membership. If you think you can get away without one and just play for free, think again: an upgraded membership is essential if you want unlimited messages, the chance to filter by role (vital for finding matching kinksters), access to your followers list, and the opportunity to peep who’s viewed you.

You can try having fun on it for free, but may find yourself coming up short.

JAUMO

Flirt. Chat. Date. JAUMO’s catchphrase makes it sound so simple. For those of you wanting something a little more regular than a nameless hookup, this app has your back...if you’re cisgender, straight, gay, or lesbian. Anyone existing in the middle ground will have a hard time getting lucky here. Setting up your profile on JAUMO is more extensive than any other dating app I’ve been on besides OKCupid, but it’s because they want your connection to last, and ask you questions about details like your diet, religion, and whether you want children.

Even though it seems more serious, one of the questions is also about your relationship status, letting you know JAUMO’s down for polyamory.

So what’s the catch?

If you match with someone, talk fast. Only the first five messages are free. VIP membership is pretty reasonable at $10.99 per month. With it you can enjoy unlimited matches, see who’s liked you, use more filters, re-evaluate old swipes, and be the first message a newbie sees.

But while all that sounds grand, if you live in the states, JAUMO is a bit of a ghost town. When I was swiping, some matches were over a thousand miles away. Within a hundred mile radius? I had two women and over two hundred men. If you’re a straight woman available for the smooching, it’s your lucky day. For the rest of us, we’ll have to keep on looking.

While no site is a true replacement for what Craigslist so uniquely nailed, these five sites will give you a taste of everything you need for frisky fun and a good time.
